Daniel was elected NEU General Secretary in 2023, working previously as national president of the union, and as a NEU rep, undertaking casework and negotiation. Before this, he was a primary school teacher. Daniel works to oversee the “fundamental change” he believes the sector needs, including an end to real terms pay cuts, overbearing workloads, and a reform of Ofsted’s “punitive regime”.
